Can You Earn Money Without Skills?
I recently started exploring Quora more and try to engage and answer questions that I feel I am eligible to answer.
So, I got this question yesterday asking “How do I make money online during my college days without any skills?”
At first, I literally had 🤨 this expression. But then, I realized that most of us actually do have that thought once in our college lives, and we seem desperate to start earning as early as possible.
So, to all the college peeps as well as everyone else who are wondering the same, there is no quick or sure shot method to do that (especially for the long run) and I can say that because some of my classmates/friends and I too used to try and find such opportunities and had some unproductive experiences that taught us the hard way.
But still, if you want to give it a try and learn it the hard way, you can earn some bucks online by doing these:
1.Participate in online surveys
Companies will pay you for your opinion, and this can be a great way to earn some extra cash. You just have to find the right platforms for such surveys. Some that I’m aware of are — Swagbucks, YouGov, Opinion Bureau, Panel Station etc.
2. Sell products online
If you have a product/s that you can sell, you can set up an online store and start earning money. You can use sites like Etsy, Ebay, Shopify etc.
3. Assisting with Research
You can do research work and help other people with their tasks. It just requires google, a lot of reading, hence a lot of time.
4. Freelancing
You can also earn money by providing freelance services but I think it’s pretty clear that you cannot freelance if you don’t have the knowledge or the skills. Even if it is just a writing job, you will need some creative writing skills.
5. Join Affiliate and Referral programs
Finally, you can do affiliate marketing. There are various affiliate and referral programs where you can market or promote someone else’s product and earn money. One of them I know and have tried is Writesonic’s affiliate program, they give 30% lifetime commission so you can give that a try!
Apart from these, whichever ways you find to earn money, they all require some set of skills, whether it is a copywriting job or as simple as creating a Youtube video. At the end, you will have to put in some effort and smart work to promote your work and earn money.
So in a nutshell, from my point of view, instead of wasting time on figuring out how to earn money without skills, it’s better to start building your portfolio/resume, gain some valuable skills, explore what you are passionate about by trying out different fields and then think of ways of monetizing it. There are thousands of certification courses and projects you can try on Coursera, Udemy, Google projects etc.
